An Italian adaption without much in common with the original story. Jean Valjean is portrayed without any sympathetic characteristics at all.
 
According to some sources, this was Marcello Mastroianni's debut role (as a revolutionary).
 
When released in the US, it had been cut down to 118 mins for some reason. It is available on VHS.
