Les Misérables, 1913

Filmed in episodes, this almost 3 hour long French adaptation was the longest film of the time and quite a success in France and many other countries. Capellani manifested his skill in converting popular novels to the silent screen.

For this adaptation, he offered celebrated musical dancer Mistinguett a major role - her first - which confirmed her talent as an actress.

Some sources say this film was released in 1912, which might very well be the case - I've let the "majority" rule.
